Make Your Furoshiki More Fun. Easy Bags with Rings and Straps

Today I would like to share a simple way to make your furoshiki even more fun to use.

In the photos, I made what is often called an “ichigo bag” using a furoshiki ring. This style of bag is one of the easiest and most playful ways to turn a single cloth into a bag. With a ring, you can create the shape in seconds, even if you are new to furoshiki.

The best size for an ichigo bag is usually a furoshiki between about 70 cm and 100 cm.
For a compact everyday bag, 70–75 cm works well.
For shopping or days when you carry more items, 90–100 cm is more practical.

MUSUBISM furoshiki are 100 cm square.
Because of the larger size, they hold a lot more than you might expect. Many women find this size especially useful for everyday life when bags tend to fill up quickly.

While furoshiki bags are sometimes associated with kimono or yukata, in Japan they are actually used very often with casual clothing. A furoshiki bag works beautifully with everyday outfits such as denim, simple dresses, or relaxed weekend wear.

Rather than looking “traditional,” it becomes a unique accent in a modern wardrobe.

For this bag, I used a dedicated furoshiki ring.
A ring with a diameter of around 13 cm works well and helps the bag hold a clean shape.

Furoshiki rings come in many materials, including wood, metal, and plastic.
This time I used a lightweight plastic ring in black and clear. The color of the ring can subtly change the look of the bag.

These rings are also very easy to find. In Japan, they can be purchased at 100-yen shops, on Amazon, or through many online stores at a very affordable price.

But rings are not the only way to enjoy furoshiki as a bag.

You can also add leather straps or paracord to create different styles.
A leather strap gives the bag a more refined look.
Paracord adds a casual, slightly outdoor feel.

By combining different accessories, you can create your own style and adapt the furoshiki to your outfit or mood.

A furoshiki is just one piece of cloth, yet it offers endless possibilities. With a ring, a strap, or a simple knot, it can easily become part of your everyday style.

Try experimenting with different combinations and discover your favorite way to enjoy furoshiki.
