Honoring Tradition: Our Connection with the Furoshiki Study Association
Share
At Musubism, we are proud to be a member of the Furoshiki Study Association, a cultural organization founded in 1992 by Chitoko Morita, one of Japan’s foremost advocates for furoshiki.
About the Furoshiki Study Association
Established with the vision of “bringing furoshiki into modern life,” the Furoshiki Study Association explores the cultural, practical, and aesthetic value of furoshiki.
Its founder, Chitoko Morita, is a renowned copywriter, author, and cultural figure who has dedicated her career to reintroducing furoshiki as a beautiful, sustainable element of everyday life.
In addition to her many publications, Ms. Morita also serves as a 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Ambassador for Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. Her work bridges traditional craftsmanship and contemporary environmental awareness.
Our Collaboration
Musubism shares the association’s mission to celebrate the quiet elegance and enduring relevance of furoshiki.
Through our participation in workshops and one-on-one sessions with Ms. Morita, we continue to deepen our understanding of the cultural roots and modern expression of furoshiki.
We also help share these insights with the world—offering English-language experiences and furoshiki sessions to international audiences who are discovering this art for the first time.
For International Visitors
While the official website of the Furoshiki Study Association is currently available only in Japanese, Musubism is happy to assist international visitors who are interested in learning more about the association or its activities.
If you would like to connect with the Furoshiki Study Association or attend a cultural session, please feel free to contact us.
We are honored to support the beautiful mission of the association, and to serve as a bridge between Japanese tradition and the world.
